Cathy at chemotherapy, doing her best to distract herself from the process. |
Independently of that, I've also got a tentative schedule for my surgical procedures, and that is December 3rd. There will undoubtedly be some overlap for our recovery, and Oh Brother, won't THAT be fun. All kidding aside, it's actually a relief for both of us to know that these things are going to happen. They are on schedule and real to us now, instead of some nebulous "down the road" kind of thing.
Recovery will be difficult; Cathy has six to nine weeks of it, and I've got two to three weeks of it, and that will take us to the end of the year. We will both start 2019 in much better health than we were in at the beginning of 2018. I marvel at what it took to get us there and it still doesn't seem quite like it's happening. But here we are. As it stands, Cathy will have additional chemotherapy in 2019 and my recovery and path to wellness begins anew with increased drive and focus. I have Batman's Utility Belt. It's time to fights some crime. Metaphorically speaking, of course.
The downside to this is that we are officially feeling the pinch. I had rather hoped to avoid a GoFundMe campaign but that is not possible. I'm going to try and activate it this week.
